Agate Facilitates More Than 850 Aspiring Game Developers in Indonesia to Participate in Global Game Jam 2025

  • Agate, through Agate Academy, successfully supported more than 800 aspiring game developers across 11 cities in Indonesia during the Global Game Jam (GGJ) 2025, which took place from January 24 to 26, 2025.
  • Bandung stood out as the city with the highest number of participants, accounting for 19.37% of all jammers in Indonesia. Hosted at Agate Headquarters, Bandung’s GGJ site recorded the largest number of participants and produced 37 games based on this year’s global theme, “Bubbles.”

Bandung, 31 January 2025Agate International (“Agate”), Indonesia’s leading game development company, through Agate Academy, proudly announces its contribution to the successful execution of Global Game Jam 2025 (GGJ 2025). This annual event continues to break new ground, fostering creativity and collaboration within Indonesia’s growing game development ecosystem. This year, more than 800 Indonesian jammers from diverse backgrounds—including students, professionals, and independent developers—joined forces in this global initiative, pushing the boundaries of innovation and game creation.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “I hope this event allows jammers to learn from each other, exchange ideas, and inspire one another in developing Indonesia’s game industry. Through initiatives like GGJ, we can cultivate more talent capable of creating high-quality local games that compete in the global market.” She delivered these remarks while virtually opening the Global Game Jam 2025 event in Bandung on January 24, 2025.

Bandung: The Creative Hub of Global Game Jam 2025
Bandung, long recognized as a major hub for game development in Indonesia, played a pivotal role in GGJ 2025, hosting the largest number of participants nationwide. The event was held at Agate Headquarters in collaboration with the Bandung Game Developer Community (GDB) and was supported by the Indonesian Game Association (AGI), the Bandung City Government, and the Ministry of Creative Economy. In addition to game development sessions, GGJ 2025 in Bandung featured mentoring programs and networking opportunities, allowing participants to learn from industry experts and strengthen professional connections.

Chairman of Global Game Jam Bandung and Bandung Game Developer Community Leader Mikhael Martin, stated “The enthusiasm in Bandung has been truly incredible. With 156 jammers and 37 games developed, Bandung has once again solidified its position as a city with a thriving and ever-growing game development ecosystem. We are extremely proud of the creativity and innovation showcased in this event.”
