As a part of its commitment to developing Indonesia’s game ecosystem, Agate through Agate Academy hosted Game Beyond Borders, an event which brought together over 180 young talents. This event aimed to equip participants with insights into building a career in the game development industry, with a strong emphasis on preparing them to seize opportunities and navigate challenges on a global scale.

Bandung, May 26, 2025 – Agate International (“Agate’), the leading game development company in Indonesia and one of the largest in Southeast Asia, through Agate Academy, hosted the Game Beyond Borders event on May 24, 2025, at the Agate Headquarters, Level Up Building. The event successfully supported over 180 young talents by equipping them with valuable insights into building a career in the game development industry, not only within Indonesia, but also on a global scale.

At Game Beyond Borders, Agate Academy conducted two discussion sessions featuring Lee Marvin, Full-cycle Game Development Business Head at Agate, and Arya Rakha, an Agate Academy alumnus and recipient of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship funded by the European Union.

Lee Marvin, who currently leads the Full-cycle Game Development business at Agate and brings over 10 years of experience in the game industry, delivered a session titled “Networking Strategies with Global Partners.” In this session, he emphasized the importance of building relationships within the game industry and shared his experiences collaborating with international partners from countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United States, and South Korea.

Arya Rakha, an Agate Academy alumnus who is currently pursuing a master’s degree in game design in Portugal, presented a session titled “Tips for Building a Game Development Career Aboard.” In this session, Arya shared his journey in earning the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship and highlighted the role of Agate Academy in shaping his career in the game development industry.

Restya Astari, CEO of Agate Academy, stated, “Through this event, we aim to help young talent gain a clearer understanding of what it’s really like to pursue a career in the game industry. A field that is dynamic, full of challenges, but also rich with opportunities. We believe that with proper preparation, local talent can not only enter the industry but also thrive and make a meaningful impact on the sustainability of Indonesia’s game ecosystem.”

The Game Beyond Borders event also showcased a variety of games created by local talents who had previously participated in Agate Academy’s training programs. These included Dungeon Hotpot by Renala Games, As I Began to Dream by Strayflux, and Project Radiant by Anandya Syafakhatul Azmi and team. Luat Sihombing, Director of Games at the Ministry of Creative Economy (EKRAF), was also present at the event to share about various government support programs for the national game industry, which is one of the seven priority subsectors among the 17 in Indonesia’s creative economy landscape.

The Game Beyond Borders event demonstrated the continued and promising growth of Indonesia’s game development industry. This is reflected in the rising quality of local games that are increasingly competitive on the global stage, the diverse forms of tangible government support, and the strong enthusiasm from the younger generation to pursue careers in game development. This momentum signals that Indonesia holds significant potential to become a key player in the global game industry.
