Technical Artist

Responsibilities Collaborate with artists, designers, and programmers to ensure art assets meet visual and technical requirements. Create and maintain efficient art production pipelines. Develop tools, scripts, and workflows to improve team productivity. Optimize game assets for performance on multiple platforms (PC, Consoles, Mobile). Troubleshoot and fix visual or technical issues in assets and scenes. Support artists with feedback on asset setup, shaders, rigging, and engine integration. Build and maintain simple Control Rig setups in Unreal for animation prototyping. Assist with Niagara-based VFX implementation and optimization. Keep up with new tools, workflows, and industry best practices. Requirements Core Skills & Experience:3–5 years of experience as a Technical Artist in a game development environment. Proficiency with Unreal Engine (blueprints, materials, performance profiling, optimization tools). Strong familiarity with Blender and ZBrush for asset preparation and troubleshooting. Experienced in Substance Painter and Substance Designer for texturing pipelines. Solid understanding of real-time rendering principles, PBR workflows, and asset optimization. Comfortable with version control systems (Git, SVN) in a collaborative multi-artist environment. Proficiency with procedural tools: Unreal Engine’s PCG tool, Blender’s Geometry Nodes, or Houdini is a plus. Additional Technical Competencies Ability to profile and optimize assets, shaders, and scenes for performance targets. Experience building or improving art production tools, scripts, and automation workflows (Python, UE Blueprints, or relevant scripting languages). Strong debugging skills for art-related issues (materials, meshes, lighting, rigging, animation import/export). Basic rigging skills: skinning & rigging in Blender, familiarity with Control Rig in Unreal Engine. Basic VFX skills: creating and tweaking effects using Niagara in Unreal Engine. Soft Skills Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail. Good communication skills for bridging art and engineering teams. Ability to document processes, tools, and technical constraints clearly. Self-driven but collaborative — able to manage time and priorities effectively.
